Newark Airport and Howard Johnson’s

I arrived late at night to the Newark Airport.   I got a free shuttle from the airport to the Howard Johnson’s hotel that I pre-booked. Not a great room, but it was cheap! I heard that there was a restaurant attached to this Howard Johnson hotel. I had hoped that it was an actual  “Howard [...]

Return to Bangkok

Sorry for the bunch of super-weak updates lately.  I’ve had a bit of the “Bangkok Belly”, so I had to stay near the hotel for a few days.  But I’ve been here in Bangkok, back to my favorite hotel.   I got room number 664, which makes me the “Neighbor of the Beast”.   I wonder what [...]

Koh Lan island – Part 2

During the 20 minute trip to Koh Lan island, the captain drove (piloted?) the boat at top speed.  I’m not used to travelling in small boats, and this trip felt like a painful version of a roller coaster.  The boat was constantly catching “air” and every time it hit the water, it almost knocked me [...]

Thai Chip Review: Calbee Mystery Chips.

Little Jim and I label these as “Mystery Chips” due to an absoulte lack of any English on the front of the package.  On the back, some English text states that this is manufactured “Under license of Calbee Foods Co, Tokyo, Japan”.   The picture seems to give a good idea of what these chips are.  [...]

Finally in Bangkok – Part II

Little Jim is happy to be here.  Particularly when he found the “free drink coupon” and the “free breakfast coupon” Well, I’m finally caught up.  Here I am enjoying another cheeseburger in paradise in the Nana Hotel Coffee Shop:

Newark to Anchorage!

Well, when I initially signed up for this flight, it was supposed to go from Newark to Seattle to Taipei.   Seems they changed it.  It no longer stops in Seattle, but now it stops in Anchorange.  OK, whatever… At least they have an accessible smoking lounge in Anchorange (they don’t in Seattle).   Little Jim thought [...]

Goodbye Newark!

Well, this will be my final post from the wonder that is the Newark Airport. The next post you see from me will be in Bangkok!  (Won’t have time to post in Taipei). I had to drag Little Jim away, he was having too much fun…

More fun in Newark…

Well,  I can’t say that I like it here in the Newark airport.   But I am now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  I’ve just checked my bag, so that’s one less thing to lug around the airport.   I’ve discovered the airport bar.  I think this trip is going to turn me [...]

I probably should be packing…

BUT…. I’m still waiting on laundry. I’m also charging 3 different cameras, a laptop, electronic cigarettes, among others… I instructed Little Jim to procure some “medication” for the long flight. Looks just like what the doctor ordered!

Meet my new travel partner!

Meet Little Jim, my travelling partner!  He begged and pleaded to go, so I guess I’ll take him!
